I got old, which happened quick. I think it was right between the sixth and seventh Fast and the Furious, but I could be wrong.

Growing older has given me the chance to celebrate success, to learn from failure, and then fail some more. In the last nine years I’ve worked on over 20 different television and film productions as an art director and graphic designer with the Directors Guild of Canada, a part of my life that happened after spending some time as an intern and then award-winning junior advertising creative.

Now at 40 I’m looking towards where I want to be in the future, to get back to what I’m truly passionate about, working with brands and chasing big ideas. Since graduating from OCAD University in 2009 with a Bachelor’s of Design in Advertising and two student awards, the business has changed a lot. I’ve been lucky enough to find a spot at Miami Ad School Toronto where I’m learning about what Advertising is today, and where it’s going to be tomorrow.

They say to follow your dreams, but they don’t tell you what that means. Following your dreams will keep you up at night, they will turn your life upside down and will have you leaving a good paying job to start all over again.

In a way my dream is the biggest idea I’ve ever had, and I couldn’t be more excited and terrified to see where it takes me.

Long Live the Big Idea.
